Today began the state evangelism conference for the Alabama Baptist Convention. This is a time where leaders and others from Southern Baptist churches all across the state gather together to encourage each other to be faithful in sharing the Gospel.
The main speakers tonight were James Merritt from Cross Pointe Church in Duluth, GA and Steve Gaines from Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, TN. They both shared great messages filled with the Word of God.
A couple of things that I walked away with were these pearls:
The gospel is the virgin birth, the sinless life of Christ, the substitutional death on the cross, the burial, and the resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Without one of those elements, you don't have the gospel.

Tomorrow will be the final day of the conference. If you are in the Birmingham, AL area, I encourage you to come to Gardendale FBC and see what's going on. It starts at 9am.
