Happy Thanksgiving

Today, many families will gather together to share some great food, watch parades and football, eat WAY to much, and make some memories to talk about at future family gatherings. It is Thanksgiving once again.

This holiday was set aside by a president many years ago to remind us of the need to stop and give thanks for the blessings we have. It's a little strange though that we need a government leader to remind us to stop and thank.

As I thought about the "thanking" part of this day, I was reminded by what the college pastor at our church shared recently. To be truly thankful, one must acknowledge that these things came from a gracious Creator and not ourselves.

As you gather together and give thanks for the blessings in your life, be alert. Be purposeful in thanking the giver of every good and perfect gift: Jesus Christ (James 1:17).
